Christine Arveil Biography

The Volcano Project — Around 2005, I invented a volcano, one that I have kept building upon since, both geographically and as a metaphor of the psyche. This life-size project shall be completed toward 2011-12. A portion of the work was exhibited in Portugal in 2009 and in Boston in 2010. The vision started with my writing of a surrealistic novel, La Faille -The Fault©. The novel’s main character is a sculptor who isolates himself for three years inside a volcanic fault in search of the meaning of art creation, which ultimately challenges his own strength. The medium that I use for painting is unique: binding dry pigments in violin varnish. Read more…
